L85 HF power amplifier

The Drake L-85 is a prototype HF linear power amplifier with a single 3-500Z tube. The power supply was built in, as in the L-75 linear power amplifier. The project engineer of the L-85 was Paul Hrivnak, who was employed at Drake at the time. Paul is most known among the amateur ranks as the man behind PALSTAR. This is the only L-85 ever produced, as the forecast of the L-85 or the demand for such a unit by the amateur radio market was simply not there.

Thanks to Bill Frost for the information!
